Now in Stock at Will Leather Goods – The Limited Edition Howell Portfolio

We’re proud to announce, the Howell Portfolio is now in stock.

A limited Edition of 75 pieces, each bag is hand-numbered and stamped with a Will Leather Goods logo.

After the last stitch is sewn, the Howell Portfolio is washed for thirty minutes; then air dried to achieve it’s uniquely rumpled character.

Besides form, the washing process lends greatly to the function – enhancing the durability of the vegetable tanned leather; softening the leather and strengthening it’s water repellent nature.

Keeping utility in mind, we have designed soft, tubular straps for handheld ease and an adjustable/detachable cross-body strap in a handsome, herringbone weave cotton webbing.

The Howell’s two roomy, zippered compartments  and a central interior zippered pocket will help keep you organized each and every day.

Now Open – the Will Leather Goods Concept Shop at Ron Herman

We are very proud to announce the opening of our Will Leather Goods’ shop-in-shop at Ron Herman on Melrose Avenue.

I spent some time w/ Will to gain his insight about concept of the shop; here’s what he had to say,

“By creating a shop-in-shop, we’re able to offer a true representation of the brand’s soul.

We want people to see who we are in a nano-second.

We’ve covered the wall in leather cowhide – the natural, organic material we use to craft our products; the fixture is a raw metal finish; unadulterated steel. The range of product, from our Signature Canvas and Leather collection to our Found Coffee Sack Carryalls to our Dhurrie Messengers, shows that Will Leather Goods is Creative, Resourceful, Thoughtful, Worthwhile and A Conversation Piece.”

Will wanted to stress these five points of our brand,

“We offer a Creative product to stimulate your own creativity.

We are Resourceful in our use of materials; designing products by sourcing Found materials like coffee sacks, 75 year-old dhurrie rugs; military surplus canvas; discarded nautical stripe sail cloth.

What is It at Will Leather Goods?

A bright and sunny Friday in Eugene, we wanted to have a little fun on the blog today…Hence, our new once-in-a-while blog series, What is It at Will Leather Goods? 

We’d love to hear your guesses about the object in the photos. It’s a special design project which we brought to our recent trade shows in Las Vegas and NYC – we received many a raised eyebrow and struck up some great conversations surrounding this piece – a conversation we’d like to continue with you.

To offer some scale/perspective to the overall size, we placed our Custer Wallet on top of the object in question (we recently featured the Custer in last week’s What We Carry Around with Us blog post if you want some additional scale).

To anyone who guesses correctly (or has the most amusing guess), we will be giving this same front pocket leather wallet; made in the USA of natural shrunken veg tanned leather.

From the Will Leather Goods Archive…

With spring training underway, we felt the time was right to feature Will’s 1953 Spalding “Trapper” Model 1331 First Baseman’s glove in this week’s post From the Will Leather Goods’ Archive… 

Will has owned this glove since he was a boy – a gift from his father who purchased the glove befittingly in Cooperstown, NY; home of the baseball Hall of Fame.

Supple yet strong, the durable nature of the cowhide used on the gloves of yesteryear is commonly referred to today in the leather goods industry as BBG leather (short for baseball glove, of course).

At Will, we “keep an eye to the past” as we begin every design project –  and with our Spalding Trapper, we have a beautiful reminder of our American past…

Now in Stock at Will Leather Goods – The Beck Tote

A key piece in our Signature Leather Collection, the Beck Tote is now in stock. 

As we started to concept our Signature Leather Collection, we wanted to design a leather tote that worked for our modern lives – large enough to fit a laptop; small enough to wear everyday; a zippered main entry to keep our belongings secure; a detachable cross-body strap built to stay on the shoulder; a reinforced base panel with metal feet; leather wrapped top-handles; straps reinforced with dual-rivets and box stitching; interior pockets to keep us organized… and most importantly, a vegetable tanned leather which is rugged yet mellow; natural in texture; bright in finish; properly oiled to resist scratches; and able to patina, becoming more beautiful over time…

 

Our Beck leather tote (style #31200) is available in cognac, black and brown; includes a 15″ laptop case and Will Eco Pillow (more to come about our Will Eco Pillow in an upcoming blog post) in Signature Will Plaid; retail cost $350.00.
